DEW TOUR PORTLAND WRAP

August 25th, 2008

photo4.jpg
Round three of the AST Dew Tour, AKA The Wendy’s Invitational is now history and Levi’s® BMX was on the scene. Once again Jamie Bestwick was the star of the show, but a crash kept him from the win. Jamie was certainly the favorite to win the vert contest, but hung his rear wheel on a double downside whip. This crash ended Jamie’s hopes for another win and put him into the 2nd place position. He still leads the Dew Cup points heading into Salt Lake City. Anthony Napolitan was another Levi’s® BMX star in Portland. After failing to qualify in dirt, Anthony stepped it up and finished 2nd in park prelims. He rode great in the finals too, but couldn’t nail his 360 triple-whip like he did in prelims. Anthony finished in a respectable 7th place overall. Zack Warden and Morgan Wade both had their moments in Portland too. Zack finished 9th in Vert with big moves like his tail-whip catch tail-whip. Watching Zack ride is always a treat. Morgan Wade also had his moments in Portland (like this one above). He rode great, but missed making the finals by just one spot. Tough luck, but at least Morgan left Portland unscathed. Congrats to all the guys for another great showing. Check out some photos from the event here.

LOST LUGGAGE

August 22nd, 2008

morgan.jpg
Levi’s® BMX Pro Morgan Wade made it to Portland, but unfortunately the same can’t be said about his bike. The airline lost his bike somewhere between Texas and Oregon, so Morgan was forced to borrow someone else’s ride. That someone was his Levi’s® teammate Zack Warden. Morgan rode dirt qualifiers on Zack’s ride, but could only muster up a 19th place finish. He’s trying somebody else’s bike for street practice. Good luck Morgan.

ZACK EARNS A SPOT IN DEW TOUR VERT FINALS

August 22nd, 2008

zack.jpg
The 3rd stop on the AST Dew Tour is underway in Portland, Oregon. The action kicked off yesterday at the Wendy’s International event that runs through Sunday. Levi’s® BMX Pro Zack Warden is the first team rider to transfer from prelims into the finals. Zack qualified 7th which locked up the very last spot in the 10 rider finals. Levi’s® BMX Pro and defending Dew Tour champ Jamie Bestwick automatically transfered into the finals having won the 2007 Dew Cup. Check out the Dew Tour site for coverage.

Our friends at VitalBMX have posted a completely ridiculous clip of Levi’s® BMX Pro Anthony Napolitan rolling away from a triple tail-whip backflip.  The footage is straight off a cell phone, but incredible nonetheless. Anthony is certainly pushing what’s possible.

NATHAN JOINS THE BIG TIME

August 5th, 2008

photo2.jpg
Levi’s® BMX Pro Nathan Williams has had quite a run this past year. He’s traveled the world, gotten more magazine coverage and cover shots than any of his Levi’s® teammates,  and competed in the X Games. It all makes sense to us. Nathan is one of the nicest, most polite guys we know. We grabbed this shot of Nathan signing autographs at X Games 14. Proof that he’s officially joined the big time.

MORE X GAMES GOLD FOR BESTWICK

August 3rd, 2008

photo.jpg
For the second year in a row Levi’s® BMX Pro Jamie Bestwick has won X Games gold. The BMX Vert comp went down tonight in Los Angeles. Jamie bounced back from a first run crash to win the event. Somehow Jamie didn’t get his hands back on his grips after a double barspin and took a tumble to the bottom of the ramp. Fortunately he wasn’t hurt and regained his composure. The new jam style format couldn’t slow Jamie down either as he put together another one of his high flying runs packed with back to back big tricks. Jamie did not play it safe and did what it took to win. Check out RideBMX.com for event coverage and photos. Congratulations Jamie. We’re amazed!

DAK TAKES 5TH, NATHAN 6TH AT X GAMES 14

July 31st, 2008

dak_119.jpg
The BMX Street finals went down today at X Games 14 in Los Angeles. The inaugural event included 3 Levi’s® BMX riders including 2 finalists. Dakota Roche (pictured above blasting in Hawaii) and Nathan Williams both repped the Red Tab and both riders rode great. Nathan missed qualifying for the finals by one spot, but Seth Kimbrough got hurt and couldn’t ride. This gave Nathan a spot in the finals. Dakota finished 5th and Nathan scored the 6th place spot. The level of street riding these days is amazing, so we’re especially stoked to have Corey, Nathan, and Dakota all in the X Games mix. Congrats guys! RideBMX has some great coverage from the event. Check it out here.

dak_110.jpg
X Games 14 is underway and Levi’s® BMX is there. Dakota Roche is the first Levi’s® rider to make the finals. Last night we received a great e-mail from his very proud Mom: “DAKOTA HAS MADE FINALS IN THE XGAMES IN LOS ANGELES…………..AND I AM JUST BEING A PROUD MOM!!!!  CONGRATS TO HIM.” Everyone at Levi’s is proud too. BMX Street is the newest event at X and Dakota came through with 5th place in the qualifiers. The top 6 made it to the finals. Nathan Williams and Corey Martinez both repped Levi’s® too, but settled for 7th and 11th. BMX Street finals go down today and there’s still plenty of other action ahead. Jamie Bestwick (vert), Morgan Wade (Super Park & Big Air), Anthony Napolitan (Big Air),  and Zack Warden (vert) are all set to compete. X Games 14 takes place from July 29-August 3 in Los Angeles. ANOTHER COVER FOR NATHAN

July 7th, 2008

300-ride_issue_149_.jpg

Levi’s® pro Nathan Williams has to be one of the most photogenic riders in BMX.  How else can you explain how he scored yet another cover. That makes two Ride covers in the past year. Nathan has also scored a cover of Dig. Congrats Nathan.
