Mondrian Shoes at the Great Wall

August 27th, 2008

Kevin O’Brien of the NBL sent us some shots from China the other day. Here’s what he had to say:

“Well, the Mondrians were a big hit in China. The Olympic athletes, UCI, Tourists, CBC Staff, everyone wanted them. So to pay tribute to those wicked shoes, they asked me to take their picture on the Great Wall of China. Here it is along with a few other pics.”

Congrats to Mike Day!

August 23rd, 2008

The first showing of BMX at the Olympics has come and gone, and USA came away with half of the medals. UGP rider Mike Day got silver, Donny Robinson got bronze, and Jill Kintner got bronze in women’s. Kyle Bennett just barely missed qualifying for the finals after his injury in the semi-finals.

Check the Olympics site for a write-up, and Go211 for more info. And as usual, Go211 also has a lot of photos and video!

Mark Gets a New Frame Sponsor

August 23rd, 2008

Mark Noble at Deluxe sent us news that Mark Mulville is going to riding for his new company. Here is the link and info on this all trails company.

Kyle sidelined during T.S. Fay, almost loses mind.

August 22nd, 2008

Five days and no riding, this mother effer is really taking its toll on me. What’s one to do with all this spare time on their hands? FedEx managed to drop two fresh new skates to my door, despite Wednesday’s foul weather. Talk about adding insult to injury… but hey I at least kept myself occupied yesterday by throwing some stickers on my boards.

Who’s on your playlist? Check what Chad has to offer

August 22nd, 2008

BMX Olympic Race Rained Out

August 21st, 2008

Both the men’s and women’s semi-finals were postponed due to rain, and are scheduled for Friday (for us, that should be tonight). That works out for our own Kyle Bennett, who could use that extra time to rest—he got dislocated his shoulder during the quarter-finals. And Mike Day is already chilling in 1st place.

If you missed them live, you can catch the quarter-finals here; they’ve also got a bunch of shorter highlight clips. It looks like coverage should be around 10 or 11 PM EST tonight! Check your listings to make sure you don’t miss the semis and finals!

Holy Pittsburgh, Check Mulville’s New Edit

August 20th, 2008

Just a quick reminder to keep your TV tuned to NBC tonight to watch Kyle Bennett, Mike Day, and Donny Robinson for the mens BMX race! Live coverage begins tonight on NBC at 10 PM EST. Check your local listings or NBC’s Olympics site for deets.

Also, here’s a pic of Mike Day’s bike setup for the Olympics we saw over at Profile Racing. Sweet!

Check out Chuck Dodge’s set up

August 19th, 2008

Chuck sent me a few pics of his new ride. He is rocking the new seat and it looks nice. Good use of sticker on the headtube as well, thanks Chuck.

Kyle’s garage space just got tight

August 18th, 2008

This month marks a new addition to my garage aka “man cave”. A big thank you to Tim McKercher, Watertop Unlimited, and Sea Doo for your support. Call me if you want a pull, if I like you then I’ll answer my phone.

BK on the move again

August 18th, 2008

I’m off to Europe to visit Copenhagen, Denmark to ride street and skateparks and then off to the T-Mobile mini ramp contest in Hamburg Germany. After that I’m home for a day and head to the East Coast (Washington, DC area) to film with stew johnson. It’ll be a crazy few weeks but that’s pretty much been the theme of my summer anyways so why change it now? haha

Here is a random riding shot from the X-games a couple weeks ago. (even though that has nothing to do with this news update). Also, check my blog on the Ride BMX site.

Jeff K’s New Ride

August 17th, 2008

Missed Jeff K by an hour the other day when we went to Lake Owen Camp. He is having a rough time, wired shut grill from a slam a few weeks ago. Didn’t stop him from riding and wakeboarding…Can’t stop’em. He sent over this pic of his new ride, looks pretty and dialed… Get better Jeff.

Chad in Wisconsin, Brett Favre?

August 16th, 2008

Chad riding a full pipe

Each year I try to make a trip back to Wisconsin, Green Bay in fact, where I was raised. This year was mainly to see my parents and my brother. But it’s hard not to meet up with Dave Freimuth seeing as he is so close. Every year I go back I don’t really ride all the old childhood spots that I grew up on. This year I made it a point to ride a few hours a day and actually found a ton of new places. Here are some pics, but the real show will be coming soon, working on a Profile web edit that should be out in a month…stay tuned to profileracing.com.

The pic of the a/c units was a random spot I found one day. The bank up to it is loaded with weeds, but it pops perfectly. There was a guy next door that came out and had the look of “I am gonna fight you”. I actually was ready to raise my fists. He must have had a bad day with his crap job towing cars; I just stared at him, flinched him and it was over. Was able to get more than a few clips here. Hope all is well in BMX land and go Brett Favre, Packers vs Jets for the Superbowl.

Are you qualified for the UGP Open Championship?

August 13th, 2008

We got together with the National Bicycle league this year to start the UGP Open Series, and the championship is going down this August 29th. Here’s the word from the NBL:

In addition to more than $4,000 in spot prizes at the NBL Pro Events, all riders who make 2 Open mains at National events will be qualified to enter the UGP Open Championship. And it gets even better – Any riders who make 4 or more mains are qualified for the Championship plus they receive a “limited edition” UGP Number plate when they register for the Championship. (Note: if you have a class without a main, it counts the same as making the main).

Go to the NBL news story and read the full list of people who are qualified for the UGP Open Championship.
