Elite and Junior Cruiser results from the 2008 UCI BMX World Championships Taiyuan - China.

June 1st, 2008
Personally I don't like the cruiser classes. I don't think the Elite Men or Elite Women take it seriously but use it as an extra possibility to win a title at a race like the European Championships and the World Championships like this weekend in Taiyuan, China. They hardly ever ride the 24" and I'm glad it's no Olympic discipline. All the cruisers do is confuse the outside public of what BMX is about. BMX is about the 20" wheels. Anyway, here are the results of the Elite and Junior classes of the World Championships in China. Whatever man. We've got some funny photos to go along with them. Enjoy the pics. Forget

Australians do well at UCI Worlds

May 31st, 2008
Juniors star for Australia at BMX World Championships while team camp optimistic of two places in women's competition in Beijing. South Australian Sam Willoughby has snared the gold medal in the junior men's final at the UCI BMX World Championships in Taiyuan, China while in the junior women's final Lauren Reynolds scored silver and Rachael Bracken the bronze medal. In the elite women's competition Tanya Bailey's semi final berth should be enough to give Australia two starting places for women in the BMX at the Olympic Games.

Bailey lined up as Australia's only starter in the elite women's competition after a major knee injury during training put Melissa Mankowski out of the team and out of contention for Olympic selection. Nicole Callisto suffered an elbow fracture in yesterday's training session in Taiyuan and was forced to withdraw.

"We don't know how serious it is yet but the initial doctor's report is that it's not so bad," said Sharples.

FAT-'zine issue 15

May 30th, 2008
It was the late '80-s when issue number 15 came out and these items made it on the RAD side of the RAD-LAME list:  Bresie'Z, Robert's graffitied Renault 14, Speedfreaks video, Vla, Divorze Posse's Demo Tape (that's a cassette by the way....), A Full PO Box, Watching Jason Ellis cutting Mike Canning's hair, Prantl's 360 at the Energie hal, English riders visiting the Leiden freestyle contest, DP's Black Medallion, Advertisers, D-signs designs, On Edge Apparel, DJ Kid Sundance, Tye Dye shirts, 'zines, Lambert's Harley, Mini-ramp Hengelo and Double seatpost clamps.

Man, most of these things aren't too hot any longer but back in 1989 they made it on the RAD list. To see what made it on the Lame side, turn to page 17. We have a Jason Ellis interview in issue 15,  a street sk8 comp in Eindhoven, 540 sequence of Albert Moonen, the Circus came to town and brought 2 BMX-ers from England, The Cologne contest Number 2 took place at the Jugendpark, Merijn Bonte got

UCi World Championships~China: Redline scores wins by McLeod, Syvain, Heffron & Saya

May 30th, 2008
After the first two days of Amateur action in China, Redline’s Global Team riders have already scored their fair share of victories and podiums.
9-GIRLS/10-BOYS: The first Redline’r to stand atop the Worlds podium was 9 year old girl SAYA SAKAKIBARA. Living in Australia, but doin’ ir for Japan, “Sock-it-to-’Em” Saya scored Redline’s first (of many, we hope) win. Saya’s brother, KAI, kept the fastness in the family with a 4th in 10 Boys.
