H Man on ?Up in smoke? tour

I found this on James Willsher’s flickr page, H Man clocking Scotty D throwing down some more ridiculous maneuvers. You can also check daily updates on the Ride BMX site too, if the trip media circus is your thing.

| What a day on Sunday and if you didnt turn up you missed out! At least 80+ riders showed their faces for Project 5’s preliminary jam of the year and for those who rode, they didn’t hold back.
We got taken to some sick spots and their was something for everyone, gentle banks to big stairs, gaps and rails, a lot was thrown down in the day. The weather cleared up just before 12 and to end the day perfectly parking was only 50p! No doubt H-man will be working on a write up with photos so expect that in the next couple of days. Many thanks to Project 5 for another successful Streetjam! Next stop Wolverhampton, lets try and get the best show out of all the Jams for that! |

| Yesterday was the first day it’s been possible to ride outside in about 2 weeks. Me and the Count rode Gateshead. He did some good stuff and I did some barspins and 180s, quel surprise. | Dry Day in Gateshead from Pete_G on Vimeo. |
| Message Board lurker Lloyd Wright has been up in London filming some more with the guys from style43. I got a phone call just after midnight last night telling me that there’ll be a new web edit available first thing this morning. Looking at vimeo it got posted up 5 hours ago therefore they must have finished it at 5am, mad lads! | Lloyd Wright Day Edit 2.0 20/08/08 from S43 on Vimeo. |

Mutiny rider Niki Croft has been doing a lot of sponsor moving recently so we caught up with him for a few minutes to ask him what’s been happening. The photos are from a day’s riding up in London filming with Orlando for the Make III.

You’ve been swapping sponsers like football cards recently, who you riding for now and what made you want to change?
I wouldn’t say i treat BMX anything like football!! I hate that game!! I am currently riding for Shadow, Orchid and Mutiny. It wasn’t a case of looking to change it kinda just happened, Shadow is a company i’m well into with their clothes and parts i’m stoked on them offering a place to me, cheers Ronnie! Going back to Orchid and leaving Vans was like changing tea bags, each person likes there own and I like mine strong…

Does it feel good to be back on Orchid?
Is this question aimed at my feet????? Yeah for sure, getting the opportunity to ride with Ditchburn again and the crew is amazing.
What’s your setup like at the moment? What parts you running?
Like a zombie running the streets at midnight… Running my Mutiny Hemi frame and lifted Mutiny stem, classic Glam bars, Shadow complete wheels with Shadow tyres, Shadow pedals, Subrosa grips.

Where can we see you next?
This weekend going to Coventry with H Man and Ditchburn to hit the streets and enjoy bmx, after that i’ll be on that Seventies trip around the UK for 10 days with loads of people which will be fun, then in October im going to Shanghai with the Make crew to film for The Make 3!
HORROR!!!!!!

Seventies are about to start their UK tour of the shops/parks/street with riding from Mutiny, Hoffman, Federal, Subrosa, Primo, Shadow and Orchid team members. Along the way they will be stopping off at various shops and spots from Southampton to Aberdeen over 9 days.
The name is a bit funny but the idea behind it is good and no doubt we’ll see some amazing updates, photos and web edits come of it all. Check Ride UK’s website and here for updates along the way. It all kicks off on 25th August in Southampton at Pijin Store and heads up north towards Aberdeen on the 31st then back down finishing off in Bury at Hardcore Hobbies on the 2nd August.

| James Cox put together a good edit from this weekends Boyley Jam which took place in Hastings Skatepark. I heard there was a good turn out and some riders turned up in fancy dress as per usual. This year the organisers ran it with the addition of the longest jump, check the video for some nasty crashes and hammers getting dropped everywhere. | In order to beat the summer rain last week, Pete, Tom, Scott and myself jumped in Pete’s green machine, pointed it north and headed to Glasgow, with the view to ride, and see the new bowl. We filmed about three clips, but still managed to a squeeze out a two minute video. | Unit 23 trip from agendatom on Vimeo |
No idea whats up here so i’ve mailed the hosts to check the server. Hopefully it will all be sorted soon, maybes tomorrow if my fingers are crossed tight enough. In the mean time get a life…
Edit: Its working again now http://www.streetphire.co.uk/forum
| Has it been and gone so quickly? Already LS6 have stuck together a funny edit of their summer’s shenanigans with Rocky and Predator clips running throughout and the odd bit of BMX nakedness. Also LS6 have launched their new webshite so go check that after you’ve had a look at this. | Summer 08 from Ls6bmx on Vimeo. |

| I’ve been a fan of the snowboard and skateboard world for a long time and always check out a few choice sites on my daily slog through the interweb. I was on vimeo (no change there) a couple of days ago and found this video by Mike Benson. He filmed and edited it and also did the graphics on it too. Quite a simple idea thats worked out so good on this video.

Amazingly, Consequence Aside went down without a hitch, loads of people showed up, all our friends pitched in to help set up and the only real technical problem was a bent drill bit. Thanks to everyone that came, and thanks to Doug and Alex for the use of the space and their continued faith in us. Look out for an article in a future issue of Ride UK.

United have just released their 2009 product collection, so we caught up with Dean Hearne, United’s do-it-all man, about the stuff and what’s next for United. Click the link for some photo’s and the interview.

What’s new for ‘09? Any major revisions on already existing parts?
This first shipment of 09 products has quite a few new items and revisions. We have the fully revamped Trinity Series, Have a new hubguard, the Nathan Williams “Grande” Bars, Brakeless options in the 40HT frame, and a new Ricky Feather brakeless 40 Colourways! The Major thing is the new 09 Trinity Frame, we basically started from scratch with that thing, rather than just tweaking the old version and putting new graphics on it, both Corey and ourselves are real happy with how it came out!

Nathan Williams Grande Bars, 8.25″ high, 29″ wide

Hub guards
How did the Nathan Williams bars come about, and what inspired the graphics?
Nathan Basically wanted something a little taller than the current 8″ Squad bars, with a little more width, so that was that really! The dude can’t operate before he has his coffee in the morning, plus he worked in a local starbucks, so it all seemed to work out!
Is anybody else lined up for a signature line? Will you be doing another the boy Feva frame?
Well, there is the new 40 in a Feva colourways! We have talked about more signature products, we feel that putting a riders name to a product is pretty important, so we don’t like to rush into these things…

New Cory Martinez signature line, now with removable brake mounts
I see you’ve released some hub guards, are you going to continue to expand your components line?
Not really, we made the hubguard as a lot of them right now are compatible with only a certain hub, we wanted something that worked universally with most hubs, and was a little more compact than others currently available. Plus doing a hubguard meant we could get it to run flush with our new frames, to keep things looking ultra neat!
You did a lot of roadtrips, and heavily documented to keep the internet nibblers happy, and plans for more roadtrips next year?
Yeah, that is the best part of it all! Getting the team together and getting out there. we are starting to plan a trip for October / November, and around this time will start working on a full length dvd, don’t expect this anytime soon though!

40 and Feva squad
Anything else we can expect from the United camp in the next year?
Our plans right now could be different this time next week, let alone in a year! As for in the coming months, we have a new site about to go up within a week or so, a full range of complete bikes which will be available before christmas, and then more of the same, get out there, hopefully people continue to be into what we are doing, enjoy it, more trips, maybe a new pro rider, new products, who knows…

| What’s not to like about a guy who has been quoted as saying “the day I run a small sprocket is the day that my dick shrivels up and shrinks” and who when asked to design a stem for Metal drew a picture of the Standard stem he has been running forever. You should buy a copy of the new Metal Video “Dead Bang” and check his amazing section in that as well. |
| A broken wheel and no chain doesn’t stop Tudor making a short web edit. I presume by the lack of forward motion generated by pedaling means that these are local spots that he’s shredding? Maybes he can put me right in the comments. Either way nice little edit. | An evening with Tudor Gillham… from Tudor Gillham on Vimeo. |
| Browsing the message board as you do when your at work and I came across an interesting topic on the filming section. ‘Kindombmx’ posted up a wicked video from a days riding mixed with a little bit of older footy he had on tape. Some good tunes and some good riding on there… to your right
PS. Its only the rough edit as he’s working on titles still but I like it! It shows a good side to the local riding scene, having a shred with your mates, nowt serious all good. |
