TGIF: Justin Simpson – Gap to 50/50
We got multiple angles of this monster clip by Justin Simpson in our New Mexico Travel Log. With a ledge blocking a clear view of the rail, it’s a blind run-up until that perfect last minute swoop into it. Justin handled it like a champ and even let out a casual mid-gap pause before unleashing the fury of the dragon. Thou rail has met its slayer, REJOICE!

Thanks to Gary Young for getting that top angle!

Behind the Photo with Jeremy Pavia & Biz

Jeremy Pavia has been on a roll with his weekly Through the Lens features and the latest gives you a pretty comprehensive breakdown of a photo he shot with Ryan “Biz” Jordan while filming his Verde SoCal edit. I wish there were articles like this when I started shooting bmx because the insight Jeremy gives you is so detailed and spot-on. Get the link, a few excerpts and a re-up of the edit this photo came from after the jump.
“When I light up a photo mid-day I try to use as many flashes as I can”
“To anyone out there looking to really make a photo pop or give it some extra color ask the rider you are going to shoot with the bring a few different shirt options.”
“I also shoot simultaneous raw + jpg files for one because you never know if one file might end up corrupt and for two, you get the most file information from a raw photo so why not maximize your cameras potential and shoot at the highest quality setting.”
“There is no right or wrong way to shoot a riding photo and I hope that each and every one of you that has an interest in becoming a BMX photographer fully understands that and explores every option when it comes time to shoot.”
“As long as you are progressing and learning from your mistakes, you are on the right track.”
Invaluable advice from one of the best dudes doing it.

Rooftop and Gabe Brooks Demolition Ad

Amazing. Rooftop and Gabe Brooks team up for the best collaborative ad I’ve ever seen for Demolition. Check out Gabe Brooks’ most recent edit for Demolition while you’re still in awe of the photo.
Phil Demattia Covers Ride UK #164.

Here’s the new Ride UK cover featuring Phil Demattia doing what they call an “over levitator” which is obviously not the correct trick name. The question is, do we call it an over pedal ice or just an over pedal crook without the nose dipped?

TGIF: Adam Banton – S Rail to Whiplash
Adam Banton has a keen eye for spotting creative tricks on unique setups. Here’s a clip we filmed during his Free Stuff video and ended up saving for our Best of 2011 recap.

Here's what the rail looks like from the front.
Division Brand China Through Instagram Flipbook

Division Brand rider Daniel Johnson made the trip to China for Asian X-Games only to have the airline loose his bag, leaving him bikeless for six of the nine days he was there. Looks like he still managed to have a good time getting drunk in a gold robe & riding around on a mountain bike. Check out the full flipbook after the jump.
